POETRY POTLUCK - Food, Drink and Indulgence

Monday's here, peeps!! And so are we!!

We (Aleza and Kavita) are as delighted as ever to welcome you back here... And without any further ado, we'll delve into the oh so delicious world of Food, Drink and Indulgence... Yuuummmy!! Won't you join us?

Register yourself (with your name and the link to your potluck entry) using InLinkz below, and leave a comment with a pointer to your post! It would be great if you could link back to us on your blog!!! Once you are done with this, visit other participants (at least 6), read their entries, comment, AND ENJOY!!! Of course, you can always submit any poem of your choice as well...

Remember: Every week, InLinkz will be up on Sunday, at 8pm (CDT), and will stay open till Wednesday, 8pm (CDT). So you will have 72 hours to share your poem with us...COOL huh?!! Also, if you aren't new to Poetry Potluck, please note that we may not send you weekly reminders. So, it would be awesome if you could add us to your Blogroll or Favorites, so that you can stay updated with the happenings on our site!!

Flash Forward!! After having sunken into our sumptuous delights, it's time to get a little serious about Lies,   Deception and Misrepresentation... yep, it's dirty business alright!! But that's next week! So you have one entire week to prepare your poem for this theme.. :) And if you are unable to submit a poem ON the theme, relax... Send in an older poem you would love to share with us...

And now, LET'S GET STARTED with this week's potluck!!!! Enjoy the VIDEO here and write on... Thanks for joining in and supporting your fellow poets here at OUR favorite Poetry Potluck!!!

This week, our awesome Uma has graced us with one of her poems.. So, here's Uma, for you...

When I ,Umamaheswari Anandane of Inside My Poem Book was asked to write a poem about food, drinks and indulgence from jingle poetry, I was struck with two thoughts to choose form : the former being the normal food for growth and the latter being food that is ensconced everywhere.I choose the latter and here it is for you.I also choose to do the image myself for easier understanding of the poem .Hope you all enjoy it.

Food being indulged to every whim satisfying human body
Stimulating the taste buds with it's quality and quantity.

The deep silence that is achieved in meditation
Helps in nourishing the spirit that lives in affliction

A food that makes the lives on the earth functions
Making love that nurtures the future generations

Inculcating good knowledge fulfilling the thirst of mind
With cultured people and innovations among other living kinds

Time , a miraculous food for Earth-space continuum
Instilling the past , present and future occurrences in them

The food in form of gas , the Oxygen , to and from CO2
For maintaining existence , where breathing resides

The biological food cycle on earth describes
That every output is an input prescribed

The food for every soul and mind depends upon totally
Of requirements that arises both internally and externally

Ensconced in forms of matter where solid, liquid and gases thrives
Indulging in every whim of hunger in all Living Lives

Thank you, Uma, for this awesome foody goodie poem... it sure has made a few of us hungry for more...

Like you had to paste that yummy image there! Come to think of it, those alluring sweet little nothings have the potential to take me off- guard for one complete year!

Then many more to come to shed!
That's why I said "take me" as in sucked!! I wish calories never existed...

Wishful thinking! For now, I have started enjoying sugarless coffee- one such is sitting next to my key board!

Uma ..that was a wonderful poem from you..
Sorry my entry not on the prompt...but I would like to share this one with all of you ..

My poem this week is NOT a comment about anyone personally, it's on society as a whole. The minute you take poetry personally, you're missing the point --so please don't as I don't want to offend any of you wonderful rally-goers. Thanks

Please if you have time read a few more poems on my site this week as this week is my Poets for Tsunami Relief project to encourage donations to The Red Cross.

Feel free to submit a poem if you wish! I may have room for one or two more. Thanks!

Uma, what a clever take on the theme. I really enjoyed that! Very nice.

@bodirose - the comments like yours are the one which makes a budding writer like me to write more...a sort of motivation!

Uma, sorry, was rushing this morning so I forgot to mention you..

Read your poem and what can I say but you nailed on every point of food..from mouth, nose, thoughts, etc...

You wrote well and in fact, always covering almost all aspects in your writing..

Well, yeah, I am back to do some reading before going to bed.. :)

Oh yes, hope you enjoyed my cocktail drink too.. :)

I was very active in writing last week.

I have a poem for Japan (may they get over this tragedy)

For women (Belated Happy International Women's Day)

and a couple of personal ones.

They're not related to the theme but I still hope you enjoy them.

Hi everyone. My first time here. The blog owners who had invited me here had mentioned I can post 3 older posts unrelated to themse on my first post. SO here I am with the only 3 poems I have ever written, first one 4 years back, second one nearly a year back and latest one written yesterday. Hope the prompts on this forum will help me write poetry more regularly. Looking forward to people's feedback

Much thanks for another super prompt. I have posted my response.
