POETRY POTLUCK - Hobbies & Passions, Pastimes & Entertainment

Goodbye Sunday... Welcome Monday... Welcome Poetry Potluck!!!!

Hello and WELCOME back to the 14th fun week of Poetry Potluck!!! :-)

We (Amanda and Kavita) are as pleased as ever to welcome you here... This week, let's talk about our Hobbies & Passions, Pastimes & Entertainment...

Register yourself (with your name and the link to your potluck entry) using InLinkz below, and leave a comment with a pointer to your post! It would be great if you could link back to us on your blog!!! Once you are done with this, visit other participants (at least 6), read their entries, comment, AND ENJOY!!!   Of course, you can always submit any poem of your choice as well...

Remember: Every week, InLinkz will be up on Sunday, at 8pm (CST), and will stay open till Wednesday, 8pm (CST). So you will have 72 hours to share your poem with us...COOL huh?!! Also, if you aren't new to Poetry Potluck, please note that we may not send you weekly reminders. So, it would be awesome if you could add us to your Blogroll or Favorites, so that you can stay updated with the happenings on our site!! :))

Flash Forward!! After a MOST interesting fun filled week, and with only a couple of weeks left in this year, we thought it will be a good idea to ponder over and write about our Reflections, Interpretations and Musings !!! You have an entire week to prepare your poem for this theme.. :) And if you are unable to submit a poem ON the theme, relax... Send in an older poem you would love to share with us...

And now, LET'S GET STARTED with this week's potluck!!!! Enjoy the VIDEO here and revel in your world of entertainment and interests!!! Thanks for joining in and supporting your fellow poets here at OUR favorite Poetry Potluck!!!

A Thin Line

form is an art,
i never partake in it
preferring blank page, no lines
no set meter or focus ..i am driven
that way, towards
the chaotic, the asymmetric
no blue lines, lines frighten me
a brutal, primal technique; insomnia
results, visions
of a critique, multiple cross checks....wood pulp
pressure i call it..i hear voices
(undead poets),indiscreet laughter - behind
a penalty box, a virtuous glaze, icing is called
my goal
sent to review, no time for a hat trick
i know what lines
do to a soul...i hear its only a thin blue line
separating passion / obsession...
poetry / hockey

Crazy Grace

Burn it does, I mean
I do, the thoughts in my fingers
What do you do with fire you can not eat whole
And thowing water (or bourbon)
only makes it flame higher,
I get higher - just watching it burn. Burning
creating words; and its cold ash I
press to my face consumed by a vision
of Grace and redeemable prose. Crazy Grace,
I call it; it's

Love poetry potluck time, thanks so much Jingle--I look forward to reading poems by this diverse group. My poems are about something 500 million of us now know and love...it's what some call a 'hobby' 'networking' and 'entertainment', while others call an addiction!

Oh my goodness, Kavita and Amanda. I am in love with the video. What a fine job you to have done with it and with the entire post. B.K.'s poems are an inspired choice. Exquisite poems. Altogether delightful kick-off. Thank you for your hard work. Hugs -

My first poem is about my passion: my family, especially my son.

My second poem is short, short - and it's about an adiction that many of us share.

Wish everyone a fun and fabulous potluck. Thanks in advance for all the poems.

Thanks to Ji for starting JP and Poetry Potluck.

Let the games begin ....

I'm not sure my poem this week fits the theme all that well, but I got a nice reminder comment from Jingle about potluck. :o) I do think my seussical rhyme has a great story to tell... plus fun links to wacky news and things that left me awestruck.

I'll be back online later to read what the others submitted. I'm so happy I found out these forums existed.

I guess eating can be considered a pastime and the results of it I tried to capture in a short poem which I hope will provide some entertainment. I see if I can produce something more on topic later today. Great opening poems.
Thanks, Dani

Already edited my entry twice and not too fond of it - by tomorrow I believe I will erase it entirely. I prefer image prompts to verbal prompts I guess.

i wrestled with this one...thought about it for two days before trying to write it....

it's hard to capture something so very soul-deep as our passions, i suppose...

thanks for the challenge - i may makes something of it yet!!

I'm confused every week I see what I think is the Poetry Potluck theme and post my entry accordingly and then I blog hop to others' blogs and they seem to be writing on another theme. Am I missing something here? Thanks :O)

Linda Bob Grifins Brin Korbetis said...

you are doing perfect job here,

We do have entries unrelated to the theme, I know you always write for the theme, which is outstanding...

My second entry is related to the theme..

theme writing is a challenge,
not all have the time to write it...

sorry that you have some disappointment ...

I will check and find some theme related post and let you know in your blog.

Linda Bob Grifins Brin Korbetis said...

after reading your comment, I looked at the entries, TRUE. u r right, not many write for the theme...

The theme comes from Amanda/Kavita, I initially did not intend, thus we combined and allow theme entries and poems unrelated to the theme entries...

If you wanted to visit a few poets whose entries are theme related, here is what I recommend by random:

#8, #23, #25, #33, #96, #113, #131, #139, and #164...#176, #177...
