ON THIS DAY: In 1757 the renowned English poet, artist and printer, William Blake was born. “Blake was a nonconformist who associated with some of the leading radical thinkers of his day, such as Thomas Paine and Mary Wollstonecraft. In defiance of 18th-century neoclassical conventions, he preferred imagination over reason in the creation of both his poetry and images, asserting that ideal forms should be constructed not from observations of nature but from inner visions. He declared in one poem, 'I must create a system or be enslaved by another man’s.'" MORE

NEW WEBSITE: Richard North, ArtsWebShow, announces a new website to complement his blog. The Culture Spotlight is intended to "shine the light on the creative world. Richard's stated aim is to develop a community based around creativity. He says, "Whatever media you work in, there is a place for you here." Stop by, visit, see what it's all about.

LOVELY ANNIE: Annie's short poem, Portrait of a Lady, has been picked up by the online poetry publication, Four & Twenty. Annie's blog is Lovely, Life on the Inside.
She sits, holding the ivory
hand of her own darkness
with hair that moves like
fingers through fields of seaweed.

JINGLE POETRY ANNOUNCES NEW COMMUNITY OUTREACH PERSON: Blaga Tordorova has volunteered for this important position, Community Consultant Assistant. She’ll be visiting blogs and inviting poet-bloggers to or reminding them about Monday's Poetry Potluck. She partners with Olivia on this.

Our Blaga was born in Bulgaria. She's been living in Greece for the last ten years. She writes beautifully in her third language, English. She says she loves both the language and the literature. Blaga is currently studying Arabic as well, enjoys classical music, and likes to travel. She dreams of going back to visit Egypt, and she'd like to Spain and Latin America.

Blaga says, "I believe that sometimes all we need is few words said from the right person, at the right time, with the right attitude!” She writes a lot of right words with a lot of good attitude. Her often romantic poetry has been enchanting JP community members for some months at her site. Yesterday, she posted a poetic homage to JP friends call Strangers. Link HERE to read the poem. Blaga's site is Scent of My Heart.

[INTER] NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH: November is the month when intrepid writers of all ages from around the world take on the challenge of writing a 50,000 word draft novel.  Quite a number of JP community members registered for the event. The following competed ahead of schedule.
    • Marilynn Mair (she did hers in decima) ... and her brother Ian Mair who wrote 56,000 prose words
    • Olivia, who immediately went out to celebrate
    • Kristin Haskill, who is continuing on to meet her personal goal of 100,000 words
    • Jamie Dedes, who fell in love with her character

      • Monday Poetry Potluck will go up here today at 8 p.m. Central Time tonight. Come to read only or to read and link in your own poem or poems. InLinky will be open for sixty hours.
      • Thursday Poets Rally, #34 will run from December 2-8, 2010. Jingle announced on her SITE that details will post on December 1, 2010.

Please send your announcements of events, books publication, new blogs, memes or events of interest in our country or region to
        Jamie Dedes, jamiededes@rocketmail.com.
        Thank you!
