POETRY POTLUCK - Moods, Feelings and Emotions...

Hey peeps, it's Monday!!! Time for you-know-what...Here at you-know-where!!!!

Hello and WELCOME back to yet another happy week of Poetry Potluck!!!

We (Amanda and Kavita) are as pleased as ever to welcome you here... This week, let us shed some tears (of joy or...well, whatever) and step into the world of  Moods, feelings and emotions!! :)

Register yourself (with your name and the link to your potluck entry) using InLinkz below, and leave a comment with a pointer to your post! It would be great if you could link back to us on your blog!!! Once you are done with this, visit other participants (at least 6), read their entries, comment, AND ENJOY!!!   Of course, you can always submit any poem of your choice as well...

Remember: Every week, InLinkz will be up on Sunday, at 8pm (CST), and will stay open till Wednesday, 8am (CST). So you will have 60 hours to share your poem with us...COOL huh?!! Also, if you aren't new to Poetry Potluck, please note that we may not send you weekly reminders. So, it would be awesome if you could add us to your Blogroll or Favorites, so that you can stay updated with the happenings on our site!! :))

Flash Forward!! After an emotional week, we thought we should step into a world of fantasy and spells, of amazement and awe... And with Harry Potter and the Dark Lord all over the place, we figured that the perfect theme for next week will be "Magic & Miracles, Wonder & Wizardry"!!! You will have a week to prepare your poem for this theme.. :) And if you are unable to submit a poem ON the theme, relax... Send in an older poem you would love to share with us...

And now, LET'S GET STARTED with this week's potluck!!!! Enjoy the VIDEO here and let loose those ever-moody creative spirits!!! Thanks for joining in and supporting your fellow poets here at OUR favorite Poetry Potluck!!!

video

Gone with a Sigh

Near-winter dampness invades the room,
infects our space, lingers in the air like
twinning wisps of frigid breath and
smoke from your cigarette.

You cannot speak or won’t.
Perhaps you heard me. Maybe not.
Or did you seal your ears against the sound
of my newfound understanding?

By the ice-etched window, quiet still,
you stand, scratching petroglyphs
with your fingernail, eyes fixed on a quail
huddled in the branches of a juniper.

Remembering how I wept
when first I read those words,
(only a girl, I could not comprehend
an ending without joy) I sigh.

And though you do not say them now—
not my dear, nor brutal acclamation,
silence screams across the room. It’s true,
you do not give a damn.

But unlike Rhett, you stay—
a witness to hope’s dying whisper.
You do not stir the embers struggling
to give warmth. Our fireplace goes cold.

I enjoyed reading the poem, it's hard to face when someone you care about don't give a damn about you ... oh but when the shoe is on the other feet ... it's sweet!

Victoria, it was a delicious sinful delight to feast upon the dour fare you brought! It's beauty was in the sheer thin honed serrated edges that cut so cleanly yet so deep. Thanks for the treat!

There are so many good things in your poem, not least, the line:
a witness to hope’s dying whisper.
That is magnificent.

Thanks for your kind comments, everyone. I remember when I was about 15, stretched out over my bed with "Gone with the Wind" on the floor and my tears were dripping on to the book. I guess I've always wanted "happily ever after."

Just to clarify, the name of my blog is "liv2write2day"

I hate it when I read something, and like it, and can't leave a comment to let the poet know. Drew, I could not leave a comment ... because I had to sign in as a wordpress blog owner! Gee whiz, fix that, why don't you.

Don't know how many I read, but it was a lot, and i so enjoyed the journey.
